Holodomor Commemoration in Edmonton

Holodomor Commemoration 2026

We invite the Ukrainian community of Edmonton and all those who wish to join us in the annual commemoration of the millions of victims of the Holodomor—the genocide of the Ukrainian people of 1932–1933.

On this day, we will come together in remembrance and unity to honour the innocent lives lost and reflect on one of the most tragic chapters in Ukraine’s history. Through remembrance, we honour the victims, acknowledge the suffering of survivors and their families, and affirm our responsibility to carry their stories forward.

This year’s commemoration will feature keynote speaker Dr. Lubomyr Luciuk. Bishop David Motiuk and clergy of the Eparchy of Edmonton will also be present, joining the community in prayer and solidarity.

Bishop David warmly invites the faithful to attend. As the people of Ukraine continue to endure war and oppression, he calls us to remember the victims of the Holodomor and stand in prayerful solidarity with those who suffer today.

Those outside Edmonton are encouraged to attend a local Holodomor commemoration wherever possible.

Together, we remember. Together, we honour their memory.
