Family and Faith

Today, more than ever, the Church is called to accompany families in the joys and challenges in what it means to be a family today, especially in the family’s mission as the domestic church in passing on the faith to their children and grandchildren.

The Importance of the Family

Listen to Bishop David’s message celebrating the year of the family and the important role of the domestic church.

Turning Opposition into Cooperation

God grants the awesome responsibility of being parents which is the most rewarding and sometimes the most difficult job there is. Therese McDonald (Chesterton House, Mundare) has 30+ years of accompanying parents who want to see their child reach their full potential, see their family overcome the hard things life throws their way, and find a way to maintain faith and sanity throughout.

Therese addresses the following questions:

• Tired of parenting via rewards and punishments? Stop the cycle.

• Fed up with threats, counting, the need to raise your voice? Get a first-time, yes.

• Looking for a parenting method that brings peace to your home? Learn to parent more effectively.

Rosary For the Family eBook

“Prayer is the breath of faith”, explains Pope Francis. Even in the family “it also means encouraging family prayer during the week”, because “the family that prays together stays together”. (AL n. 227)

Praying the Holy Rosary is a special time to share with one’s family members and other families as well. During the year dedicated to St. Joseph, praying the Rosary as a family is also a concrete way of obtaining plenary indulgence. In any case, “this can do immense good for our families”. (AL 318)
