Selected Topics: Liturgical Theology with Eastern Christian Focus

Wednesdays 6:30 – 9:20 pm Instructor: Fr. Danylo Kuc September 6 – December 6, 2017

Brief historical overview of the development of worship in the Byzantine/Slavic tradition. Biblical foundations. Eucharistic liturgies, the Liturgy of the Hours, and sacramental rites. Feasts and fasts: the ecclesiastical calendar. The Typicon, rubrics, and other regulations for worship. Some considerations of architecture, ornamentation, books, and other “materials” used in worship. Liturgy and theology. The paschal mystery as liturgical key. Sacri ce, sancti cation, and eschatology. Special emphasis on the Ukrainian Catholic context.
